So what changed?
 
When I sat down to write this book 10 years ago, I had never written a comic, and there were almost none for students learning Spanish. I had to figure it out as I went.
 
The original edition was a huge success, selling over 30,000 copies. But I kept hearing the same thing from teachers:
 
“The story is fun… but the language is kind of all over the place."
 
They weren't wrong.
 
After publishing seven other books, I finally had the experience to come back and do this one right.
 
The original edition was written for Novice High or Intermediate Low. This new one is Novice Low, built for first-year students.

  • Rewrote all language at Novice Low
  • Reduced vocabulary from 500+ unique words to 133
  • Switched to mixed-case font for readability
  • Re-illustrated key pages to improve comprehension
  • Replaced some stale jokes
